Crispy bread croutons

You can turn sad, stale bread into golden, crispy croutons. When you make them over a a bonfire or grill, they even catch a hint of smoke and fire and become even more delicious to eat.

Crispy croutons

4 slices of stale bread
Butter
Salt
Optional: fresh herbs, finely chopped
Optional: garlic, finely chopped

Tear or cut the bread into medium sized pieces. Melt a good knob of butter on a pan and fry the bread pieces until golden and crispy. Sprinkle with salt and fresh herbs.

You can make garlic croutons by adding a two cloves of garlic to the pan.
